Chapter Two -- Above Ground **Note: VERY LONG CHAPTER!!!!
"You out there yet Fluffy?" Harv asked as Fluffy tried to climb out of the small hole, which was the only exit from the underground, she balanced on his shoulders.
"Almost got it," Fluffy replied hesitantly, finally she pulled herself up and got onto solid ground. She reached back in for Harv. He grabbed her hand and she pulled him up. The outside from underground was cold and dark, the trees rotting and the air filled with toxic smoke from The Factory.
"This place is revolting," Fluffy spat with disgust. "Who would want to live here?"
"Obviously cogs do," Harv replied, still mesmerized by all the filth sticking to the walls. They started to take their first steps into the newly discovered land of unknown. Something caught Harv's eye, "Fluffy," he said, "Look!" Fluffy soon looked in the direction he was looking. A spotlight, old and rusted, it shrieked as it went from left to right. The spotlight shone onto the filth-covered ground, all the grime was revolting.
"Is there an end to this crud?" Fluffy asked, Harv shook his head and continued to walk, Fluffy followed. They walked up to the old tunnel to Punchline Place. It was blocked off by big wooden planks, giant nails, obviously poorly pounded in, were sticking out. The wood was old and rotted.
"At least it will be easy to take off with that rotting," Harv said. He walked up to one of the old rusted nails, he grasped it and pulled at it, and it easily came out. The board fell off and pretty much crumbled to bits when it hit ground.
"One down," Harv said, pulling out another nail, causing the board to fall to the ground, "Three more to go."
A few minutes later, all the boards were off, and they walked into the tunnel. The tunnel was dark, but yet they still walked through it.
"I can't see worth a seltzer in here," Fluffy said, "But I can see the light up ahead."
The light shone at the end of the tunnel, they made their way towards it. When they finally reached it, they stepped out of the tunnel. As they did, their jaws dropped. A few cogs were in the streets, talking and hanging out.
"Fluffy get down!" Harv yelled quietly, he pulled on her shirt to get her to hide behind a giant cog gear. The cogs didn't notice and continued to talk.
"How are we going to get past those cogs?" Fluffy asked.
"We can teleport! I totally forgot!" Harv replied.
"Smart Harv." Fluffy giggled.
"Hush," Harv demanded. Harv opened his book, "Ready Fluffy?" he asked.
"One second, my book is stuck," Fluffy said, struggling with her book.
"Hurry up!" Harv yelled quietly, "They're gonna see us!"
"I got it!" Fluffy said forcefully yanking her book. The book flew out of her hands and landed in the middle of the street. Harv's eyes widened, "Fluffy!" he cried, "Now what are we going to do?!"
Fluffy giggled with embarassment, "Don't worry I'll get it," she said, "When I get it I'll quickly teleport to Donalds Dock."
"Fine, I'll watch your back."
At that, Fluffy quickly rushed out and grabbed her book. Harv pressed Donalds Dock as well and teleported to the underground, he patiently waited for Fluffy to teleport. Fluffy, trying to hurry, opened up her book and pressed Donald's Dock quickly, without any notice she jumped in head-first. Harv watched her as she dove in, but his heart sank, he looked up and saw that her food had gotten stuck in the teleporter. Fluffy dangled helplessly and tried to force her foot out. Harv rushed over to her, trying also to get her out.
"Hey what's that?" Micromanager asked, pointing at her foot.
"Don't know," Pencil Pusher replied, "Let's take a look." They both walked over to the red object that was in the middle of the street.
"What do you think it is," Micromanager asked, "A type of plant?"
Pencil Pusher reached down and poked Fluffy's foot. Underground, Fluffy twitched, "What was that?" she asked hesitantly.
"What was what, now?" Harv asked confused.
"Nevermind, sure it was nothing," Fluffy said, "Now get me out of here."
Harv pulled as hard as he could to get her out, while the cogs expiremented with the red thing that was sticking out of the ground.
"It's furry," Pencil Pusher said, "What could it be, I'm so confused!"
Micromanager sat on the ground and examined it closely.
"Maybe there's something under the fur?" Pencil Pusher suggested.
"Yeah maybe," Micromanager agreed.
They both began to dig through Fluffy's fur. Below ground, Fluffy began to squirm and giggle.
"What is it Fluffy?" asked Harv.
"Gah! I don't know!" she giggled.
Harv became agitated, he tried to pull Fluffy's foot out by pulling on her leg.
Micromanager and Pencil Pusher were still digging through Fluffy's fur, the deeper they got, the more ticklish Fluffy became. She wiggled her toes to try to relieve her foot from the torture it was recieving, but it was no use. Fluffy started to giggle and squirm even more.
"Stop moving Fluffy!" Harv demanded.
"I-I can-can't," Fluffy stuttered, "Make them stop!"
"Make who stop?" Harv asked, even more confused.
"The cogs," Fluffy cried, "They're tickling my feet!"
Harv backed away for a second, "What," he said, "Cogs making TOONS laugh? Now that's just silly." he said.
"JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE!" Fluffy pleaded.
Micromanager started to dig into her fur on her toes, which Fluffy could bear no longer.
"I don't think there's anything under this fur, Pencil." she said.
Pencil Pusher stopped, "Do you hear that?" he asked, looking into space.
"Hear what?"
"That faint laughter,"
"Oh yeah your right!" Micromanger said, still digging into the fur on her toes.
Underneath the ground, Fluffy laughed like crazy, she couldn't stand it anymore. She tugged and pulled, loosening the dirt around her foot everytime.
"All this just to go to Donald's Dock," Harv said annoyed, he looked up at Fluffy, tears were falling off of her face, "Okay, THAT'S IT!" Harv tugged on Fluffy forcefully, knocking dirt onto his head. He started to dig at the dirt that was around her ankle. The dirt finally gaveway and Fluffy fell to the ground.
"Oof!" she said when she reached the bottom. Harv snickered and helped her up. The cogs looked into the gaping hole.
"Oh crud," Harv said.
"TOONS!" Micromanager shouted. "Alert the guards!"
Harv and Fluffy started to run to the underground tunnel to Donald's Dock.
"Alert the gua--ACK!" was heard from behind them. "What was that!?" Fluffy cried.
"I don't know just keep running!!" Harv shouted in reply.
"Wait!" bellowed a voice from behind them. Harv looked back and grabbed Fluffy's shoulder, "Wait Fluffy," he said, "Is that-- is that a TOON?" he gasped.
"Yes I am a Toon," the figure said, "Well, partly."
Harv started walking towards him, as he got closer, he noticed it wasn't just a toon. The toon was a dark blue mouse, slightly short, and was wearing a skirt. Harv started noticing that the mouse had cog parts on him also, his left arm was made of metal and steel and the other was a regular toon arm. His feet were flattened like a cogs feet, and his right eye was a red light. His ear looked like it had been torn off, and he had millions of scratches all over him. His other eye was covered by a patch which had a Gear with Crossbones behind it.
"I'd be Kilted Mouse, mate, but you call me KM." he said, extending his hand to shake Harv's hand. Harv was a little nervous to shake a cog hand, but he did it to be curtious.
"What are you," Harv asked, "And what's with the skirt?"
KM snapped in disgust, "This isn't a skirt, this is a kilt."
Harv nodded, "Yeah, okay then."
"So," KM said, "What are you blokes doing out here in Cog Nation?" he asked.
"Well we wanted to form a Resistance," Fluffy said, "To get toontown back."
KM's eyes widened and his face grew long, he then burst out laughing, rolling on the ground. "GET TOONTOWN BACK?" he scoffed. "YOU MUST BE KIDDING MOI!"
Harv looked down at him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
"Listen here wise-tail," Harv snapped, "It's possible to get toontown back if you just cooperate."
"I suppose your right, lad." KM agreed, "But there's hardly any toons left to join."
Harv looked at Fluffy, "Who's that guy we were looking for?"
"Zippy," Fluffy replied, "The uber."
KM again jeered slightly, "Haha, that old wisecat? Oh-ho he's a fool. Trickery! Trickery I tell you."
"What do you mean?" Fluffy asked.
"He's the trickiest cat on here! That and that Darkness fool."
"Darkness? Wait...you mean to say there's toontown ninjas?" Harv asked.
"Aye," KM confirmed. "Now, if we want to find them, ye are going to have to follow me!" KM said as he started to walk off.
"Why would we follow a crazy old rat like you?" Harv spat.
"Because," KM started, "Crazy old rats are more fun to follow than dirty rats, aye?"
"Aye aye?" Fluffy kidded.
"Aye yai yai!" Harv said facepalming.
KM started to walk again, Fluffy and Harv followed. They soon disappeared into the unknown darkness ahead of them.
